Visio Mentis – Photography That Remains

Welcome to Visio Mentis.

Not just a photography exhibition.
Not a group show designed to fill walls.

Visio Mentis is an international curatorial project born from a specific idea: to restore to photography its time, its weight, and its ability to create relationships.

In an age where images flow faster than thoughts, we choose to slow down.

To observe.

To remain.

Created and curated by Marcello Pitardi, founder of Pixel Photo Magazine, Visio Mentis explores contemporary photography as a space for dialogue between different cultures, identities, and visions, transforming the image into a universal language and a living presence.

A project born to unite

The first edition took place in 2024 at the Diocesan Museum of Tropea, marking the beginning of a journey that over time has transcended the confines of a simple exhibition to become a truly international cultural platform.

From Tropea to Catanzaro, to Giulio Romano’s Pescherie in Mantua, Visio Mentis has built a recognizable identity: taking photography out of conventional spaces and returning it to people’s everyday lives.

Don’t wait for the public.
Go out to meet them.

Culture without barriers.
Art within the real rhythm of the city.

Photography as a Universal Language

Each selected author presents a project composed of six photographs.

Not isolated images, but a story.

Each series becomes a visual narrative capable of crossing geographical, cultural, and linguistic boundaries, speaking directly to the most human part of the viewer.

Photography, here, is not decoration.

It is testimony.

It is memory.

It is comparison.

It is the quietest and most powerful way we have to express who we are.

Why Visio Mentis

We live in an age saturated with images and lacking in vision.

Visio Mentis was born as a response to this speed.

It doesn’t seek quantity, but meaning.
It doesn’t accumulate images, but selects visions.

It celebrates diversity as a real value, inclusion as a cultural necessity, and photography as a tool for awareness.

Every image opens a window onto a different reality.

Every author adds a perspective.

Every exhibition becomes an invitation to look more closely.

More than an exhibition

Visio Mentis is a meeting place.

A space where international artists, audiences, and the local community connect through images.

It’s a growing project, maintaining a precise direction: slowing down the gaze and restoring the dignity of time to photography.

Because photographing isn’t just about seeing.

It’s about choosing what deserves to remain.
