Robert Namer
Jerusalem – Israel
Parisian by birth, I spent much of my youth in Brittany, where I developed a passion for photography at the age of 17. My little Agfa soon became a Canon FTb, and I began developing my own photos, turning the family bathroom into a darkroom. I currently live in Israel, near Jerusalem, and continue to cultivate my passion by taking photos in a studio in Tel Aviv with a Nikon D850, Sigma Art f/1.4 50mm and 85mm lenses, and a Tamron 2.8 24-70mm zoom. The analog lab has long since been replaced by digital photography with Lightroom Suite and Photoshop CC. Believe me, I get the same satisfaction I get with my enlarger and developing trays.

The Project
“The Revealed Gaze”
For this exhibition, Robert Namer has chosen to immerse himself in the timeless art of portraiture, a theme that, since the dawn of time, has been the most sublime means of immortalizing the very essence of human beauty, with a particular emphasis on feminine beauty. What Robert relentlessly seeks, with an almost obsessive passion, in every portrait is not static perfection, but a vibrant soul: a gaze that speaks, an expression that reveals worlds, a feeling that resonates, and, of course, light in all its purest and most transformative manifestations. His mission is to boldly demonstrate that there is no single, rigid, academic way of conceiving and capturing portraits. Certainly, there are fundamental rules, such as those of framing, but life itself is a dynamic flow. For his studio portraits, Robert made a precise and powerful choice: fixed (continuous) LED lighting, a tool of extraordinary malleability and flexibility. The advantage is crystal clear, almost a promise: what you see is exactly what is captured. This mastery of shaping light, combined with his quest for emotion and authenticity, elevates each of his portraits to a work of art that not only shows, but reveals depth, capturing the soul and unmistakable aura of each subject, transforming every moment into an eternal fragment of beauty and emotion.

Sono rimasta entusiasta dell’esposizione presso l’Ex Stac di Catanzaro. Devo dire che la disposizione delle foto e la location sono veramente notevoli. E io ho scoperto molti fotografi che fanno cose molto interessanti. Mi dispiace per chi se la perde per ignoranza e senso di superiorità. Grazie a Marcello Pitardi e a tutto il team per l’impegno messo per la buona riuscita dell’evento.
Aver avuto la possibilità di confrontarmi con artisti di caratura internazionale è stato uno dei momenti più significatativi della mia esperienza fotografica. La mostra dal respiro internazionale, ha raccolto le opere di 27 artisti Italiani ed esteri portando nello spazio espositivo di Palazzo ex-Stac un caleidoscopio di emozioni. Quello che mi ha colpito profondamente è stato il livello veramente alto delle opre in mostra. Ciascun artista ha sicuramente onorato la propria presenza e Marcello è stato impeccabile nell’organizzazione. Mi auguro che mostre di questo livello possano essere sempre più frequenti e che il pubblico possa apprezzarle sempre di più.

Międzynarodowa wystawa, która dała wyraz emocjom. Cieszę się, że mogłem być jej częścią i mam nadzieję, że będę mógł współpracować z wami ponownie w przyszłości.
Un événement qui a apporté du prestige aux émotions. Je crois que l’organisation de l’événement a été impeccable dans les moindres détails. Je serai également heureux d’être présent à vos événements à l’avenir.
Ho avuto l’opportunità di partecipare alla mostra Visio Mentis a Catanzaro, insieme ad altri fotografi provenienti da tutto il mondo. È stata una esperienza fantastica; in particolare esporre insieme ad artisti di così alto livello oltre ad essere una gratificazione ti spinge ad osservare i loro lavori, confrontarti con loro e migliorare la tecnica. Un grazie particolare a Marcello Pitardi per l’organizzazione perfetta e professionale, che si nota sin dai minimi dettagli. Parteciperò con grande entusiasmo alle prossime iniziative.

The exhibition in March 2025 at Ex Stac in Catanzaro, which was the part of the Visio Mentis project, was an amazing event for me. The whole organizing team did a wonderful professional job in promoting photography as an art and photographers as the personalities. Seeing my own photos exhibited in the beautiful setting and having the opportunity to share my thoughts with other colleagues photographers and the audience was an unforgettable experience for me that I still enjoy for a long time after the exhibition is over. I am proud to have been a part of this project and at the same time it is an inspiration for me to continue searching for my own vizio mentis. Thank you very much for your support.
