Biography

Ivana Parag

Vienna – Austria

Ivana Parag, born in Serbia and now based in Austria, is a dedicated photographer with a deep passion for travel and street photography. For her, true magic is revealed in capturing candid moments of everyday life and the breathtaking views she encounters during her explorations. Her travel photography seeks to document the authentic spirit of new cultures and landscapes, from vibrant markets to serene natural wonders. Her primary goal is to convey the most genuine essence of each destination, striving to transport viewers and allow them to experience the world through her lens.

Equally compelling to her is the dynamic world of street photography. She is irresistibly drawn to capturing spontaneous moments of daily life, the intriguing interplay of light and shadow, fleeting expressions, and the unique characters that inhabit the streets. Each of her images preserves the ephemeral beauty of urban existence, transforming ordinary scenes into compelling visual narratives. Through her photography—both travel and street—Ivana tirelessly celebrates humanity and our extraordinary planet.

The Project

“The Silent Weight of Existence”

The Silent Weight of Existence is a documentary project that investigates the invisible burdens each individual carries within public spaces. In an era dominated by the obsession with curated perfection and relentless motion, this series invites a reflective pause on the naked reality of the human condition.

The project stems from the belief that every face is a map of a personal story. Ivana chooses to work with high-contrast black-and-white photography—a precise stylistic decision aimed at eliminating the distraction of color in order to focus solely on the “texture” of emotion.

The Silent Weight of Existence ultimately presents itself as an exercise in empathy. Ivana Parag asks the viewer not to look away, but to observe strangers closely—workers, sleepers, worshippers, or travelers—recognizing that behind every anonymous face lies a story that is heavy, complex, and intrinsically precious.

I am very happy to be able to participate in the photography exhibition in Tropea – Italy, thank you very much to Marcello who has arranged everything. The exhibition went smoothly, and it was nice to see the videos during the exhibition. Marcello sent me photos of my exhibit to my country Indonesia and I was very happy to see it, as well as the catalogue book and barcodes as well. I hope to be able to participate in another photo exhibition. Thank you for your hard work so this photography exhibition can be done well.

The exhibit at the Museo Diocesano in Tropea was a beautiful blend of history and contemporary vision. Each photographer brought their own style, ranging from street photography to nature and wildlife, creating a diverse yet harmonious collection.
The centuries-old setting added depth and reverence, making the images feel timeless and giving the exhibit a unique and lasting impact.
