Biography

Joanna Gorczyca

Stalowa Wola – Polonia

Joanna Gorczyca, working under the pseudonym “Coś Ci pokażę, coś Ci opowiem” (“I’ll show you something, I’ll tell you something”), inherited the art of seeing from her father, a passionate photographer who passed on to her a deep understanding of light and its power. Together with her husband, she travels and shares their perspectives on the fan page “Coś Ci pokażę, coś Ci opowiem.”

For her, light is the most beautiful tool for describing people, revealing their dynamic truth. She is especially fascinated by everyday life, which she seeks to capture through simple yet meaningful compositions. She mainly takes photographs with her smartphone, which she finds more convenient, while her preferred aesthetic is black and white. She believes that when color no longer absorbs perception, understanding becomes deeper, allowing for a more intimate comprehension of what one is looking at.

By profession, she is a support teacher, a role that has taught her to observe people with even greater sensitivity and attention—qualities that are reflected in every one of her images.

The Project

“Childhood in Monochrome”

This series of children’s portraits was not a planned undertaking. It is rather a kind of essence that revealed itself through photographs taken during travels.

On the outskirts of Hell’s Kitchen, there are always children, gathering in groups to play on fields drawn in the sand with sticks. Their laughter echoes off the canyon walls, amplifying the sound. It feels as if the whole world is laughing with them.

I could not join in their fun; I had responsibilities and, after all, family is the most important thing. This series of portraits makes me realize that, despite the diversity of settings, children are the same everywhere—honest, spontaneous, and genuine. The reflection of the world in children’s eyes is its true face: whether it is a smiling glance or a sad expression, you can be certain you are looking at the truth.

I am very happy to be able to participate in the photography exhibition in Tropea – Italy, thank you very much to Marcello who has arranged everything. The exhibition went smoothly, and it was nice to see the videos during the exhibition. Marcello sent me photos of my exhibit to my country Indonesia and I was very happy to see it, as well as the catalogue book and barcodes as well. I hope to be able to participate in another photo exhibition. Thank you for your hard work so this photography exhibition can be done well.
